The American Diabetes Association celebrates 15 years of Novo Nordisk’s support of the 5K@ADA in 2020. We are thrilled to welcome local Chicagoans, including members of the local ADA Chicago chapter, to join ADA 80th Scientific Sessions attendees for an early morning run and walk along Chicago’s Lakefront Trail along Lake Michigan.

Chicago’s waterfront is the perfect place to bring together local citizens with the Scientific Sessions community of researchers and health care professionals to emphasize the need for increased physical activity to help prevent diabetes and diabetes complications. This disease awareness activity provides participants with the opportunity to raise public awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle in preventing and controlling diabetes.

Together, we will run and walk for the more than one million people in the Chicago metro area who have diabetes.* For those who will join the 5K@ADA community for the first time in 2020, we have 8 week training plans for both running and walking available to help you get started.

Over 1,200 people from 62 countries completed the 5K@ADA last year in San Francisco. This year, we want to encourage even more to take part, so spread the word, follow the 5K@ADA on social media and bring your friends along for an early morning run or walk.

We look forward to seeing you in Chicago.
